The Global Cultural Engagement Convention (GCEC) is held in late-June 2015 at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), Hong Kong. It is a convention jointly organized by the HKUST Students’ Union, the International Student Association, and the Undergraduate Mainland Scholars’ and Students’ Association.
The Convention will take place over one week and will serve as a platform to promote cross-cultural integration of those hailing from different cultural backgrounds. Participants will be assigned to different groups and explore the various topics regarding cultural engagement. These groups will be expected to design and carry out projects to promote cultural integration that they could bring back to their own universities. This platform will be composed of discussions and talks by not only experts of certain cultural topics but also the participants itself.
A leadership camp and various cultural activities have been organized not only to serve as ice-breaking opportunities among attendees but also to encourage understanding and experiencing of the local culture. It is also our honor to invite celebrities and experts to share their knowledge and experience on cultural integration, in hopes that participants communicate new-found knowledge and ideas back to their respective institutions to increase cross-cultural interaction. Upon successfully attending the convention, you will receive official certificates and awards!
