In order to hasten the process of National Tsing Hua University's internationalization, NTHU has decided to establish the Office of International Affairs (OIA). The mantle of Dean of the OIA will be assumed by Dr. Wei-chung Wang of the Power Mechanical Engineering Department. Dr. Wang has previously held the titles of Executive Director of Tze Chiang Foundation of Science and Technology and Director General of the Department of International Cooperation of the National Science Council.
The job functions of the OIA include three major aspects:
Division of International Cooperation: Sign and preserve academic agreements, make arrangements for hosting foreign guests, receive foreign guests, attend international conferences, contact sister universities regarding exchange faculty and student mechanism, etc.
Division of International Students: Responsible for recruiting international students, domestic study/research abroad scholarships, dual degree program for domestic students, International scholar programs for faculty, and international student scholarships.
Division of General Affairs: Contact and provide information on visa, work permit, and Alien Resident Certificate for international students, international instructors, and international post-doc researchers. Create international promotional products for NTHU and deal with general international affairs.
The colleagues of OIA collectively have an enthusiastic and hard-working attitude, and we look forward to gradually completing the internationalization of NTHU. Please give us any suggestions on how we may improve our services.
The OIA office sits on the right wing of the first floor of NTHU's main administration building. We welcome all visitors!
