[公告] 2018 Hokkaido Summer Institute (HSI)

The season for the Hokkaido Summer Institute (HSI) is approaching once again! More than 160 world-leading researchers from overseas will gather at Hokkaido University this summer for the HSI, which was established in 2016 and provides lectures with the university’s faculty members for three months during the summer. Last summer, more than 1,500 students joined the HSI to study a wide range of disciplines from archaeology to biology.

Application Eligibility
The following students are eligible to apply for admission to the program
1) Those enrolled in a university or a graduate school at the time of enrollment in HSI
2) Those who have the English proficiency necessary to understand and participate in the course(s) they wish to take
3) Those who meet the requirements for the course(s) they wish to take.
4) Those who have agree that:
i) They must take out insurance covering medical expenses and liability during their stay at Hokkaido University, and submit a copy of the insurance policy by the designated deadline after receiving a notification of acceptance
ii) They are not able to take courses without submitting a copy of their insurance policy by the deadline.
Tuition fee
Tuition fee: 14,800 yen per credit
Dormitory fees are payable by credit card, and the fees that will be required for courses will be collected in cash (Japanese yen) after students arrive in Japan. Accordingly, students should bring the necessary cash amount for fee payment.
