[Notice] Speech by Honorable Member of Parliament

There are more and more Indian friends in Taiwan for higher education and works in science and technology and business management fields, especially in Hsin Chu. At the end of last year, the Council for Economic Planning and Development declared to build up an ‘India Village’ in Hsin Chu to appeal more settlement of Indian capitals. As one of the BRICs, India’s becoming more influential in the world through the accumulation of its SOFT POWER. Since the onset of the 21st century, the epicentre of international politics has been gradually shifting towards Asia. With a stable democratic system in place, its economic prowess and large base of skilled human capital, India is expected to play a greater role in shaping the new world order. However, formidable challenges stand in its way. As Mr. Baijayant Panda, the member of Parliament, India (Lok Sabha) said: ‘what will determine India’s success is its ability to pursue its national interests, protect its sovereignty, while facing transnational concerns and exercising its international responsibilities.’
